塞浦路斯岛位于地中海东北部，扼亚、非、欧三大洲海上交通要冲，面积9251平方公里，为地中海第三大岛。全岛人口96.3万人，主要是希腊族和土耳其族。
      塞浦路斯市场经济比较发达，1991年被世界银行列为发达国家，2004年5月1日加入欧盟，2008年1月1日加入欧元区。塞浦路斯经济以第三产业为主，海运业发达，2006年在塞注册船舶1828条，排在世界第10位。

Located in northeast of the Mediterranean, Cyprus holds the marine traffic pass of Asia, Africa and Europe. With an area of 9251 square kilometers. Cyprus is the 3rd largest island in the Mediterranean with a population of 963 thousand. Cypriot people are mainly Greek and Turkish market economy of Cyprus is relatively developed. It was listed as developed ry by the World Bank in 1991. Cyprus joined the EU on May 1, 2004 and Euro Area on January 1, 2008. Economy of Cyprus focuses on the tertiary industry with shipping industry well developed. By 2006, Cyprus had 1,828 registered ships, ranking the 10th in the world.

      中塞民间贸易始于1967年。据中国海关统计，中塞贸易80年代年均增长24%，90年代年均增长14%，2000年至2006年，年均增长22%。在塞进口贸易伙伴中，中国由2000年的第10位上升为第8位。2007年两国贸易关系发展更为迅速，双边贸易总额达到创纪录的7.06亿美元，同比增长99.6%。中国对塞出口的主要产品是船舶、机电产品、钢材、家具、玩具、轻工产品等；塞对华出口的主要是药品、铜、动物产品、回收纸等。

Civil trade between China and Cyprus started 1967. According to statistics of China Customs, the annual increase of China-Cyprus trade is 24% in 1980s, 14% in 1990s, and 22% 2000 to 2006. China has become the 8th largest trade partner of Cyprus the 10th. In 2007, the trade relations of the two ries enjoyed faster development with bilateral trade volume hitting a record high by reaching 706 million USD, increased by 99.6% on a year-on-year base. China’s products exported to Cyprus are mainly ships, electromechanical products, steels, furniture, toys and light industrial products, etc, while Cyprus mainly exports pharmaceuticals, copper rags, animal products and recycled papers, etc to China.

      中国公司1987年开始参加塞浦路斯的各类项目投标，到目前为止有三个较大的项目：
      1998年中国万宝公司承建的利马索至帕福斯高速公路项目；2000年中兴通讯股份有限公司承建塞浦路斯电信局智能网项目；2008年中材建设有限公司承建塞瓦斯力克6000吨水泥熟料生产线项目，该项目预计将于2010年完工，这是迄今中国公司在塞承建的最大项目。
      在塞浦路斯注册的外籍海员中，中国排在第10位。截至2007年12月，塞浦路斯对华投资项目134个，实际投资额2317万美元。

Chinese companies began to take part in tenders of various projects of Cyprus 1987. There are three big projects by now
Limassol-Pafos Highway Project contracted by China Wanbao Company in 1998; intelligent network project of Cyprus Telecommunication Office contracted by ZTE in 2000; the 6000-ton cement clinker production line project of Siwaslik contracted by Sinoma in 2008, which is the biggest project contracted by the Chinese company in Cyprus by now, and expected to be completed in 2010.
In term of seamen with foreign nationality registered in Cyprus, China ranks the 10th; and by December 2007, Cyprus has invested into 134 projects in China with actual investment reaching 23.17 million USD.
