长期以来，中国向佛得角提供了大量援助，实施了众多的经援项目，促进了佛经济的发展和社会、文化的进步。1985年建成使用的佛人民议会堂，是中国援佛首个大型民用建筑，也是佛迄今为止最大的工程建筑项目。该项目建筑面积为12626平米，是佛得角政治、文化中心和国务活动场所。

For a long time, China provided considerable aids to Cape Verde and carried out many projects, which promoted the development of economic, social and cultural progress of Cape Verde. The People’s Congress Hall, built in 1985 by China with 12,626 square meters area , was the first and still the largest civil construction in Cape Verde. It is the political and cultural centre of Cape Verde.

Cape Verde is perennially droughty and occasional rain would lead to soil and water loss. As a result, it was considered to be an improper place for building large water conservancy facilities. Chinese experts successfully built the first dam in Cape Verde’s history through scientific argumentation and hard work. The dam promoted the development of local agriculture and tourism industry.
