Germany is China’s largest trading partner in Europe, while China became its largest trading partner instead of Japan in Asia in 2002. In recent years, bilateral import and export volumes have increased rapidly and all-around cooperation has been continously deepened.

2002年12月31日，从德国引进的上海磁悬浮列车通车典礼在上海举行。中国国务院总理朱镕基和德国总理施罗德出席通车典礼并乘坐列车。这条连接浦东国际机场和上海市区的磁浮线路全长31公里，最高时速可达430公里。

On December 31, 2002, the opening ceremony of Shanghai maglev train introduced Germany was held in Shanghai. The Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji and the former Germany Prime Minister Gerhard Schroeder attended the opening ceremony and took the train. This maglev train route, which links Pudong International Airport and the downtown of Shanghai, has a total length of 31 kilometers and a maximum speed of 430 kilometers per hour.

China-Germany Joint Venture Companies Achieving Remarkable Results
中德合资的上海大众汽车公司是中国最早的轿车合资企业之一。项目于1984年10月动工，它的成立结束了中国汽车业低水平徘徊的历史，开辟了利用外资、引进技术的新道路。如今，上海大众已成为中国国内规模最大的现代化轿车生产基地之一，年产能达50万辆。

China-Germany joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen Company is one of the earliest car joint ventures. The project started in October 1984. It is a milestone to utilize foreign investment, introduce new technology and phase out outdated technologies. Today, Shanghai Volkswagen has already become one of the largest modern car-production bases in China with annual production capacity of 500,000.

Chinese Enterprises Bringing Forth Themselves in Virtue of German Exhibitions
1987年4月，中国作为伙伴国参加德国汉诺威工业博览会，德国经济部长班格曼等政界代表参加了中国馆的开幕式。中国的机械、船舶等展品受到观众的热烈欢迎。博览会期间，汉诺威市还举办了“中国电影周”、“中国商品周”等活动。

In April 1987, as partner ry, China took part in Germany Hannover Messe; German minister of economic affairs Bangemann and other political representatives attended the opening ceremony of China Pavilion and the products such as Chinese machinery, ships, etc. were warmly welcomed. During the periods of exposition, Hannover city also held many activities such as “China Film Week”，“China Commodities Week” and so on.
