Italy is an important trading partner of China in EU. In the past 30 years, the annual amount of bilateral trade between China and Italy has increased 85 times, 360 million US dollars in 1978 to 31.38 billion US dollars in 2007. During this time, there were three periods with high speed of increase, during which the annual increase rate of the bilateral trade is over 20%. They were 1983-1988, 1991-1995 and 2003-2007.

      意大利政府自1981年开始与中国进行双边发展合作，截至2008年4月意大利政府向中国提供了1.4亿欧元赠款，共建设50个项目。

By April of 2008, Italy has provided China 140 million Euro of governmental aid, and helps China to set up 50 projects.

      中意双向投资从无到有，稳步发展。截至2007年底，意大利在华投资项目共计3733个，合同外资金额86.7亿美元，实际投入38.5亿美元。1980年代中期，中国企业开始到意大利投资，从初期的代表处、贸易公司发展到现在的制造业、现代物流和研发中心等形式。截至2007年底，在意大利投资兴业的中资企业共114家，累计实际投资额近1亿美元。

The bilateral investment between Italy and China also increases steadily. By the end of 2007, Italy has invested in 3733 projects in China and the contract FDI in China is 8.67 billion US dollars. The actually exploited FDI of Italy in China is 3.85 billion US dollars. The Chinese enterprises began to invest in Italy in the 1980s with the presence of their representative offices、trade companies and logistic companies. Gradually the Chinese investment in Italy has gone to the fields of production、R&D center and modern logistics. By the end of 2007,China Enterprises in 114 and total volume of 0.1 billion USD investment.
