中玻于1985年7月9日建交。23年来，双边贸易、投资和经济技术合作全面发展，成果显著，已涵盖航空、能源、矿业、农业、林业、电信、电力和水利等多个领域，合作规模和水平不断攀升，企业间的联系也日益紧密。

Diplomatic relationship between China and Bolivia was established on July 9, 1985. After 23 years of development since then, bilateral trade, investment, economic and technical cooperation realized all-around development and made significant achievement, covering sectors such as civil aviation, energy, solid minerals, agriculture, forestry, telecommunication, electricity and irrigation, etc. The scale and level of cooperation is keeping on rising while communication between enterprises is getting closer and closer.

      2004年以来，中玻双边贸易增长迅猛。据中国海关统计，2008年前7个月，双边贸易额2.21亿美元，已超过2007年全年水平（1.53亿美元），同比增长218.0%。其中，中国对玻出口1.22亿美元，同比增长172.2%，主要为机电产品；自玻进口9913万美元，同比增长301.4%，主要为锡矿砂、木材和皮革等产品。

Since 2004, bilateral trade made fast development. According to China Customs Statistics, in the first 7 months of 2008, China’s trade volume with Bolivia was about $221 million, exceeding that of 2007 ($153 million), up by 218%, among which, China’s export to Bolivia amounts to $122 million, mainly machinery and electronic products, import Bolivia amounts to $99.13 million, mainly tine ore, timber and leather.

      为支持玻社会经济发展，自两国建交以来，中国向玻教育、文化、农业、水利、电力和交通等多个领域提供了大量援助，实施了一大批和百姓生活息息相关的项目，受到玻政府和人民的一致赞扬，极大地增进了两国政府和人民之间的友谊。
      中国援玻波多西省农村电气化项目实施地点位于玻海拔最高的省份（全省平均海拔高度4100米）。

In order to support social and economic development in Bolivia, since establishment of diplomatic relationship, China has provided enormous aid in sectors of education, culture, agriculture, irrigation, electricity and transportation and implemented many projects closely related to people’s daily life. These projects are highly praised by Bolivian government and people, greatly enhancing the friendship between the governments and people both ries.
Potosi Rural Electricity Project, financed by China Aid, is located in the highest province of Bolivia (average altitude in the whole area is 4100 m).
