建交以来，特别是近30年间，中加两国经贸关系稳步发展。2007年，双边贸易额303.8亿美元，提前三年实现两国领导人确定的到2010年达到或超过300亿美元的目标。

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, especially in the last 30 years, trade volume between China and Canada was USD 30.38 billion in 2007, realizing 3 years ahead of schedule the goal set by leaders of the two ries that by 2010 bilateral trade would reach USD 30 billion.

      2003年7月24日，中国首座商用重水堆核电站—秦山三期核电站全面建成投产。这是迄今中加间最大的合作项目，项目利用外资规模26.79亿美元，国内配套16.66亿元人民币,引进的是加拿大原子能公司的坎杜技术。

July 24 of 2003 witnessed the overall operation of Qinshan Phase III Nuclear Power Plant, China’s first commercial heavy-water reactors nuclear power station. Utilizing CANDU technology of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, the project has been so far the largest cooperation between China and Canada with USD2.679 billion foreign capital and 1.666 billion Yuan supporting domestic fund.

      温哥华是加拿大太平洋沿岸的重要港口，是中加货物贸易的重要集散地，加拿大的小麦、钾肥、纸浆等原料性产品以及中国的轻工和机电等产品就是通过这儿源源不断地运往两国。1992年12月，中国向北美出口的第一台大型岸边集装箱起重机从上海整机发运加拿大温哥华港。
